Question: I am a medical doctor and, while I don't specialise, I know a bit about backs. I would criticise your philosophy. It is my opinion that when back pain first occurs the first thing to do is to get a medical opinion. Surely you cannot argue with this approach? Tony Schultz (November 15, 2000)
Answer: No. I'm only trying to help fellow back sufferers. I mention on the website that every profession uses its own expertise when dealing with backache. You being a medical person would ignore chiropractors, osteopaths, acupuncturists, etc. in favour of your own profession. To put it succinctly all I am saying is to try the non-invasive approach first. In my experience this relieves pain in the majority of cases. It may come as a surprise to you, but one of the medical profession's most eminent clinics, The Mayo Clinic, clearly states on its website "Try simple measures first." Colm Campbell.
